2D CHARACTER DESIGN
Moose the Mushroom
Moose's design was inspired by a friend's request to draw a mushroom person. The idea of mushrooms reminded me of foraging and farming, so I made him into a gardener. His appearance is inspired by Fly Amanita mushrooms, but his name comes from Moose Antler mushrooms.

Magpie the Cat
Magpie is a companion character for Moose. She lives in a nearby farmhouse and likes to explore the nearby woods, which is where she met Moose.

Iris the Witch
Iris was inspired by Halloween and fall themes. I wanted to create a youthful and adventurous character that evoked a seasonal aesthetic.

Tohru the Ninja Chef
Tohru was designed based on sketches from a figure drawing session. The poses reminded me of a ninja, and I decided to take that idea and make it fun! I ended up combining elements of a few elements from various Asian culinary arts, such as the Wok for a hat.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson
For these designs, I wanted to take the characters Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and put a science fiction twist on them. I was inspired by the style of characters from Laika's films and retro science fiction films.
